What to Watch
Fortunately for us, the Golden Age of television — which I think is all the time if you just look for it — and an extreme heatwave happening at the same time feels like a sign from God. Stay inside and watch TV. It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s safe.
Mob Land I hear is great. America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Season 2 just dropped on Netflix last week, and I watched it in under 24 hours—it really hooked me! (No Texas football puns intended. :P)
Titan: The OceanGate Disaster is now on Netflix, in case you're looking for a reason to never step into a shoebox-sized underwater vessel again. And if you're trying to catch up on the high-profile Karen Read case, HBO released a strong documentary that follows the first trial: A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read.
My parents have been watching Stick on Apple TV with Owen Wilson and really like it. Same goes for DEPT Q on Netflix.
As for me, I’ve been completely consumed by Love Island Season 7—and I’ve admittedly dabbled in Next Gen NYC on Bravo.
If you’re Confufu about Labubu…
Don’t worry—so are all of my friends.
For the layman/ those not chronically online: Labubus—which, to me, look like the Abominable Snowman from the Rudolph Christmas special—are characters from the graphic novel series The Monsters.
Since 2017, keychains of the characters have been sold by Pop Mart, the official retailer of Labubu. Despite being around for the last eight years, Labubus gained even more notoriety after Lisa from the K-pop group BLACKPINK was spotted with one hanging from her bag. According to CNN, Pop Mart’s revenue reached $1.8B in 2024 because of the Labubu craze. Not only are they highly coveted, but they’re also rare—selling out each “drop” within seconds. And when you finally do get your hands on one, it’s a blind box, meaning you won’t know which figurine you’ve got until you open it which makes it all even more of a thing.
If you buy directly from Pop Mart, Labubus typically range from $15 to $30. I saw one special edition listed on StockX for $5,000. A friend said she spotted a few fakes being sold on Canal Street for $7.

Fashion Editor + Stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson Hosted a Size Inclusive Free Sale in Brooklyn
Last month, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson—fashion editor and stylist to names like Serena Williams, Gigi Hadid, and Kamala Harris—dropped cross streets on her Instagram and hosted a “free sale.” In other words, she gave away pieces from her closet at no cost. You’ve never seen me move faster on a Sunday morning.
It was Memorial Day weekend, and the city was quiet. I jumped in an Uber and, 15 minutes later, I was in Bed-Stuy.
When I pulled up, there were swarms of the most polite, happy people sifting through racks and racks of clothing, shoes, and bags. Some women came straight from their nursing night shifts; others came directly from church.
When I spoke to Gabriella later on, I asked what prompted her to do this.
“I've always loved the idea of closet sales and never felt I was able to participate due to sizing.
Last year, Paloma Elsesser, some friends, and I did a plus/curvy girl sale called ‘For the Girls.’ The other sellers wanted to kill me because I kept slashing prices. I thought, It's traumatic enough to want to shop and feel there is no space for you to do so—but it's a double gut punch when you find something and then can't afford it!
I saw a few folks disappointed, and it shattered me a bit. So I’ve wanted to do a free sale since last year. It corresponded perfectly with a move. A fresh start for me—and a new life for so many things I've known and loved.”
GRW Eric Adams to Leave Gracie Mansion (if he even lives there…?)
He’s done it again. Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams has posted a series of “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) videos to his Instagram. He brings haters viewers along as he records himself steaming button down shirts, making smoothies, eating a plant based vegan lunch, etc. Nobody asked him to do this, I know it was his idea. But also need to know who is behind his social.

Cole’s Final Oh, Mary! Curtain Call
Cole wrote themself an email with the high-level concept for the play back in 2009 but didn’t start putting pen to paper until 2020. Oh, Mary! made its Broadway debut in 2024. It’s my favorite show in recent memory. If you can snag a ticket, Titus Burgess will be playing Mary through September!
Did you see Fallon’s schtick on Labubus ? 😂😂😂
